Since our walls are so wonky, and Chris is such a perfectionist, this project honestly took him about 4 full days to complete from dawn until dusk, but I’m soooo glad we went for it.. I’m starting to dream of a whole wall of built-ins in the living room now, and Chris is dreaming of the giant TV I said he could buy if he builds them for me!.
If I store-buy everything though, it seems kind of lifeless and plastic. What’s a mom to do?
A few handmade projects to give the room soul and a few things that are bought, hung up, and then done make a room feel just right.. 3).When you start with blank walls, it’s so easy to start feeling like you’re over-filling the walls and starting to look like a crazy person.Look at your favorite magazine and catalog rooms though, I guarantee you that the walls of those rooms are just full to the brim!
Fill the walls up with things you love and stop fussing!(That last comment.
be mostly directed at myself.).
Hooks are handy. It was bad, right?.
And with no major renovations or installations, just paint and some pretty stuff, here’s how it’s looking today!.This little room re-do has been totally in the spirit of “just for now” so I can enjoy it and not pull my hair out while I’m waiting for us to be able to do some of the more major renos we’d like to do eventually.
I’ve been trying to do it using things that I can keep and continue to use and love later on down the road as well.I’m not done yet, but it’s already had much more of an impact on my daily enjoyment of my home than I ever thought it would..
